You can help our chapter to support the  NKFSC Camp Program.   This can be done by registering your VONS card with the chapter.  In this way, Vons will contribute 5% of all money spent by registered users to NEPHROS SOUTH.  This will be in the form of a direct deposit each month to our account, we will then disburse the funds to the SD NKF chapter each December.

The National Kidney Foundation of Southern California Camping Program was established to provide camping experiences for kidney patients and their families to enjoy, free from the burden that normally accompanies their disease and its treatment. Kidney patients of all treatment modalities, transplant recipients and general nephrology patients are given the opportunity to attend camp. A fully equipped medical facility is created on site where children dialyze and receive their treatment. Physicians, nurses, and social workers donate their time to provide around-the-clock medical attention to the campers. The NKFSC pays all costs; there is no charge to the approximately 100 campers who attend each year.

Several years ago, the camp program expanded to meet the needs of more patients in the renal community. Recognizing that adult patients wished to have quality family time away from the pressures of home, the Family Camp Program was born. The adult patient and his/her family is able to spend a long weekend up in the mountains, enjoying a variety of outdoor activities, or simply spending quiet time in the lodge. A camp is held each season, except for the summer, when the children's camp is in full swing. Once more, a complete medical facility is created with a volunteer health care professional staff providing high-quality medical attention.
